Amsterdam – 2024 & Ongoing
We live in an age of oversaturated perfection, a world of curated Instagram aesthetics, picture-perfect lives, and carefully selected moments. The more I scroll through trends and news, the more I feel we’re living in a dystopia straight out of Cyberpunk: high-tech, low-life.
It’s a paradox that defines us. Advanced technologies in photography and video create flawless images while we feel miserable inside. Artificial intelligence boosts productivity, yet we’re left hollow, unable to savour the tangible and real.
This is what inspired this project.
My life isn’t perfect. I’m not the world’s greatest artist. But I’ve learned to cherish the things I create, even when they’re just for me.
When I capture these moments, I seek imperfection and the messiness, the rawness, the flaws that make something real. I deliberately shoot with slow shutter speeds to invite movement and flash, bringing back a little bit of a nostalgic 90s-2000s vibe that amplifies the imperfections of the moment.
This project is my rebellion against perfection, my celebration of life’s beautifully imperfect fragments.
